A weekend of Cross Country and Sportshall……

Cory Sherwin U17 was competing in his first club cross country event. Despite being on the course an hour early he was still waiting for a club vest a few minutes before the start of his race. He had to start the race while still putting his vest on. He was 15th of the 16 under 17s. Having started as 0-5k runner and only doing one other training session a week apart from his regular Lydney park run, Cory will improve a lot on this performance.
Edward Leech was the club only U15 runner. Ed finished 8th of 24. Only one of those who finished in front of him was a Gloucestershire runner.
The races at U13 and U11 all had over 40 runners. Kieran Morgan 31st, and Charlie Roberts 43rd, ran in the U13 race. Aron Asher 40th and Arthur Dennent 58th were among the youngest of the U11 runners.
The girls U13 team finished 9th. Rebecca Ward 22nd Isabellel Chapman 33rd, Erlina Ainsworth 34th, Sophie Harvey 39th
The U11 girls team were the best scorers on the day. The runners were Izzy Babij 7th, Phoebe Taylor 10th, Fiona Chapman 28th, Jessica Ward 29th, Lacey Wildin 39th and Drew Sheen 53rd. The A team were 3rd behind the powerful Cheltenham club who had the first 2 teams home. The B team were 13th

On Sunday some of the athletes were competing again. This time it was indoor Gloucestershire Sportshall league. A very long but great day with the Forest of Dean AC U11’s, U13’s and U15’s, down at Freedom Leisure Lydney, competing in the first round of the Gloucestershire Sportshall League. I thought all our athletes were brilliant, performed really well and represented the club impeccably! Well done all and thank you for your enthusiasm and commitment. Thank you to all the parents also, who came down and supported or helped!
