Tillie Westwood, Melissa Kolic and Mia Bishop all took part in the Brewers Memorial Games at Cheltenham and performed well. Mia stepped up an age group to U15’s and threw 15.93m in Javelin placing her 14th and 15.68m in the Hammer. Melissa took a break from her GCSE revision to throw 33.80m in Hammer placing her 1st in the U17 age group. Tillie threw a new PB in Javelin 29.52m (setting a new club record but it is just short of that elusive 30m mark) placing her in 2nd out of 19 and moving her up the UK rankings. She also threw 18.72m in Discus which was enough to gain another UK Ranking and placed her in 4th out of 9. She also took part in High Jump and Long Jump but struggled with a knock to her ankle in these.
Emma Clarke had a disappointing 800m finishing 6th in 2.44.2. She was back on track an hour later and ran much better in the 300m finishing 2nd in 46.0. Not bad for her first serious track races of the year!
Max King and George Jelley both ran 100s at Worcester on Tuesday where they were in different heats when both clocking 12.4. At Cheltenham, Max was 5th in a very tight finish, with a time of 12.0. He went on to win his 400m in 55.6. Both his Cheltenham times were personal bests.
Katerina Bennett ran her first ever track race at Worcester in a comfortable and controlled looking 800m, with a time of 2.44. She tried the 3000m at Cheltenham and finished in 13th place in 13.04. Needless to say, she is sticking to the shorter races in the near future.
Second claimer Briony Bishop has had a busy few days. She ran the 3000m at Worcester. After a relatively steady parkrun Saturday she ran a 3000m on Sunday. On Monday she also ran a 3000m. Mondays time unsurprisingly was the slowest of the 3000s, 17th in 11.23.
Please note that regrettably, we have had to cancel junior training next Saturday, 6th May, due to a lack of available coaches. Apologies for any inconvenience.
The Junior Coaching Team
Enclosed is a timetable and details about the above event. This event is held annually by Cheltenham & County Harriers and is a great early season meeting for age groups U11upwards. Athletes must be a minimum age 9 on the day to enter. I would encourage you all to attend this meeting in a very friendly but competitive environment! I’m sure there will be plenty of representatives from the club going but if you have any questions then please ask any of the coaches and they will be happy to help. It is an individual meeting rather than team, but if you do go then please ensure you wear your FODAC vest. The U11 and U13’s is a Quadkids format with a sprint, endurance, jump and throw and you can usually enter on the day.

Please see the message below from Mick Morris regarding this year’s Championships.
Good evening everyone,
Please find attached entry form and timetable for Parts 1 and 2 of the county track and field championships. The venue this year is the Prince of Wales Stadium, Cheltenham and the dates are Saturday and Sunday 13th and 14thMay 2017. As in previous years entries will be accepted by post or by email to me or on the day. Please encourage people to pre-enter if they can as that cuts down on the administrative workload on the day in terms of producing start lists and getting people set up on the results computer. Grateful if you will publicise the event in your respective clubs and pass on the entry and form so that as many as possible get to receive the information. I will be emailing some athletes over the next few days but having had my old computer completely fail on me late last year I do not have as many contacts as previous so your help will be invaluable.
Changes this year are that we have moved the Under 11 long jump so that it is on the same day as the other two events for under 11s so they only have to compete on the one day as this was requested of us. That has resulted in some further re-timetabling of the long jump sessions to allow for this. As with last year the Paralympic throws will take place in one continuous session rather than a different start time for each of the throws. Those events are open where applicable to both seated and ambulatory athletes.
If anyone has any other questions please ask them to contact me. Thanks.

On Saturday, 10 of our young athletes travelled all the way down to Paignton in Devon to compete for Gloucestershire in the regional finals of this winter’s indoor Sportshall Athletics competition. A 2 hour drive each way in no way spoilt the occasion and some of our athletes even managed a trip to the beach! It was a very tough competition but, what I would say is that our athletes (along with those from Cheltenham and Gloucester clubs who made up the team) competed to a very good standard and did fantastically well. Whilst as a team we couldn’t manage to really challenge the other counties (Devon, Avon and Dorset), we had some great individual performances and were not out of place at all. They all thoroughly deserved to be there and did themselves, FODAC and Gloucestershire proud. Well done all, it was a thoroughly enjoyable day! Now lets get ready for the upcoming Track & Field season. Full results are attached.

There will be one further cross country in March and then we can start looking forward the 2017 outdoor season!
Last Sunday 29th January, saw several of our U11 boys and girls travel over to Wellsway Sports Centre near Keynsham, Bristol, to compete for Gloucestershire in the regional sportshall final. They teamed up with athletes from Cheltenham & County Harriers, Tewkesbury AC and Gloucester AC to form 4 teams (2 boys and 2 girls). They competed against very strong teams from both Avon and Somerset in a very tough competition. I am very pleased to say that the two girls teams finished 3rd and 5th and the boys 2nd and 5th. These are great performances when you consider the catchment of the other counties. A huge well done to all athletes from all of our Gloucestershire clubs. It was lovely to see everyone mix together and compete together for the county. Particular well done of course to our own athletes, some of whom were only first year U11’s and we even had the odd athlete who was competing a year early! An excellent day had by all. Thank you to all the parents for your brilliant support and encouragement and of course anyone that helped on the day!
Results are attached accordingly. Just so you know, the Hi-Stepper results are listed as the Medley Relay for some reason, in case you can’t find them.
