Hello We always welcome new club members. Please look below to see which session is right for you then please just come along…..its only £1 a week. Please be aware that if you are not a member you are not covered by insurance and also you will not be able to compete for the club.

  1 – Choose your training session A : School years 1 to 4 NuStars Fun, Friendship & Competition We run sessions for primary school age children on Saturday mornings between 9.00am and 10.30am at Five Acres Sports Centre at Berry Hill near Coleford. We call this the NuStar group, It only costs £1 and you only pay when you come. It is not necessary to join the club or pay a fee in advance, we let you have two trial sessions first. The emphasis is placed upon fun, fun, fun and a little competition. We meet every week during term time and the holidays, please come along and have a go. In the summer we are outside and in the winter we meet in the gym. PS. While your children are having fun why not come for a run yourself at the Forest of Dean Parkrun. B : School years 6 to 13

Forest of Dean AC Junior and Youth Squads Competition, Fitness & Training Secondary school age boys and girls may be interested in joining our Junior and Youth Team. We run two groups. One group is for Sprints and Field Events; the other group is for Middle Distance and Distance Runners. In the first instance you will join our induction group to learn essential skills, training tips, warm up and injury prevention, track etiquette and health and safety aspects of athletics. Then, when we, and you, feel it is appropriate, you will be able to join one of our more advanced training groups with one of our senior coaches. We welcome everyone whatever their ability and encourage as many people as we can to compete for the club whether you take a serious approach to competitive athletics or just for the fun of it. It only costs £1 and you only pay when you come, however, if you enjoy your time with us and wish to continue training with us, we will ask you to join the club. We meet at the track every week on Tuesdays and Thursdays during term time and the holidays between 6.oopm and 7.30pm at Five Acres Sports Centre at Berry Hill near Coleford. 2 – Read the Code of Conduct

General

  • Treat others with the same respect and fairness that you wish to receive
  • Uphold the same values off the track/field as you do when engaged in athletics
  • Anticipate your own needs, be organised and on time
  • Thank those who help you participate in athletics
  • Inform your coach of any other coaching you receive
  • Show patience with and respect diversity in others
  • Act with dignity at all times
  • Notify a responsible adult if you have to go somewhere
  • Strictly maintain a clear boundary between friendship and intimacy with a coach, official or other person with whom you train
  • Use safe transport or travel arrangements
  • Avoid destructive behaviour and leave athletics venues as you find them
  • Never engage in any illegal or irresponsible behaviour
  • Challenge anyone whose behaviour falls below the expected standards of ‘Athletics Welfare’
  • Speak out immediately if anything makes you concerned or uncomfortable ( Telling your Parents / Carers and or the Club Welfare Officer ) or if you suspect a club mate has suffered from misconduct by someone else

And also for Junior Athletes in particular

  • Do not respond if someone seeks private information, unrelated to athletics e.g. home life
  • Never accept a lift in cars or invitations into homes on your own or without the prior knowledge and consent of your parent/carer

Code of Conduct for Parents / Guardians

  • Encourage your child to learn the rules and play within them.
  • Discourage unfair play and arguing with officials.
  • Help your child to recognise good performance, not just results.
  • Never force your child to take part in sport.
  • Set a good example by recognising fair play and applauding the good performances of all.
  • Never punish or belittle a child for losing or making mistakes.
  • Publicly accept officials’ judgements.
  • Support your child’s involvement and help them to enjoy their sport.
  • Use correct and proper language at all times.

3 – Fill in the Form

To join us, please download, print and fill in paper versions of the  form which can be found by clicking here: Club Membership (If you prefer simply complete the form/s in the hut, we have copies of them there.) If you are applying for family membership please name all members of the family. Sorry, but each and every competing athlete will need to complete the whole form separately and individually. We also require that all members of the family read and agree to the Code of Conduct above.

4 – Pay your Sub

We are working on having online payment via PayPal but we are not there just yet so at the moment you will have to pay by cash or cheque.

Note: England Athletic Registration fees are due for every competing athlete who will be 11 years old & above during the current year on 01 September 2012.  All competing family members over 11 are required to pay the England Athletics fee.  Coaches and qualified officials are not required to pay the England Athletics fee.

4 – Post it in the box

Please put everything together IN AN ENVELOPE and post it in the ‘Membership’ box in the club hut.  Please remember to write your name clearly on the envelope.  Cheques should be payable to Forest of Dean Athletics Club.
